Three everyday moments: you are driving and want to ask a follow-up question without restarting the sentence; you are cooking and want to practice a language out loud; you are in a meeting and need a question answered in the middle of someone else talking. ChatGPT's voice mode just got noticeably better at all three. And separately, you can now build a small website or dashboard without leaving the chat window.

Two things happened this week. First, OpenAI rolled out GPT-Live-1 to ChatGPT Voice: paid users (Go, Plus, Pro) get GPT-Live-1, free users get GPT-Live-1 mini. Second, ChatGPT Sites entered public beta for Plus and Pro accounts and Workspaces — you describe what you want to build and ChatGPT assembles an interactive page you can refine and share.

What changed in ChatGPT Voice

  • New default model: GPT-Live-1 for Go/Plus/Pro, GPT-Live-1 mini for free accounts (OpenAI release notes, October 30).
  • Full-duplex: both models can listen and speak at the same time, so interrupting, turn-taking and backchannel sounds feel natural.
  • Voice replies appear alongside streamed text inside the same chat — you can read while listening.
  • It keeps working inside a normal ChatGPT chat, so your voice conversation is also a written conversation you can scroll back through.

How to try the new voice

  1. Open the ChatGPT app or website and tap the voice (headphones) icon.
  2. Pick your voice and start talking — try interrupting mid-sentence and notice it stops and answers right away.
  3. Scroll the chat afterwards: the spoken exchange is also recorded as text you can copy, edit or send.

ChatGPT Sites: build a mini-site by describing it

ChatGPT Sites lets you turn an idea into an interactive website or lightweight app without any coding. People are using it for dashboards, project trackers, launch calendars, prototypes, internal portals and reports. You describe what you want, ChatGPT builds a first version, you preview and refine it together, then publish and share it through a URL.

  • Public beta: available to ChatGPT Plus, Pro and Workspace accounts (Enterprise public publishing is off by default and must be enabled by an admin).
  • Works in ChatGPT Work on the web, or in Work/Codex in the desktop app.
  • You can add files, data and links as constraints so the site matches your real content.

Sites in three steps

  1. Open ChatGPT Work (web) or the desktop app and start a new Site.
  2. Describe what you want — for example 'a dashboard that tracks my freelance invoices this month' — and attach any files or data you already have.
  3. Review the private preview, ask ChatGPT to adjust colors, sections or wording, then publish and share the link.

Try both tonight

Voice: open ChatGPT, start a voice chat and deliberately interrupt once — that single interaction shows the difference GPT-Live-1 makes. Sites: build a tiny tracker or a launch page for something you care about. Neither takes more than a few minutes, and both are now part of the default ChatGPT experience for paid users.
